Kununurra
"Kununurra" comes from the Aboriginal language of the region and means "big waters". This is very apt, as Lake Argyle, Australia's largest lake, is only 72 kilometres from the town.
Kununurra is located at the eastern side of the Kimberleys, a plateau region of northern Western Australia, close to the border of Western Australia (WA) to the Northern Territory (NT). From Darwin it takes the Greyhound bus nine hours to get there (834 kilometres).
