God In The Water

God In The Water

Frustration rode me
on my way to work
it was raining
and water slowly seeping into my pants.
I gazed around
and saw umbrellas, not faces
saw grey, not colour
heard high-heels, not laughter.
As I crossed the bridge
I looked down onto the water
and noticed something shining in all colours,
billowing in the harbour.
"An oil slick! Which idiot..." my mind started to think.
But then I looked up
and into the sky
where I saw a little rainbow
hovering, with a smile.
I felt ashamed.
That was no oil slick
just God's reflection
in the water
to cheer me up.
