Redfern Now
Blackfella Films | Australia 2012 | 6 x 60 min
Redfern Now will be the first drama series written, directed and produced by Indigenous Australians. The series will focus on six households on one street, revealing elements of contemporary inner-city Indigenous life and it is being developed in consultation with Redfern Community Organisations.
Redfern Now will be set in the inner-Sydney suburb, home to ‘The Block” and much political action, and will be co-developed by British TV drama legend Jimmy McGovern, creator award-winning dramas such as Cracker, The Lake and The Street.
Redfern Now will go into production in late 2011 and screen on ABC1.
Redfern Now offers our talented practitioners an opportunity to hone their skills in TV drama and audiences everywhere will intimately identify with the human stories this prime time series will portray.—Erica Glynn, Indigenous Department Head, Screen Australia
