Synopsis

Barrumbi Kids tells the rollicking, coming-of-age story of Tomias and Dahlia - two best friends growing up in a magical and remote Northern Territory community.

The series celebrates the value of unstructured outdoor play, living with the consequences of their shenanigans, engaging with the physical world and above all, making your own fun!

A fast-paced drama with action, humour and heart. Through fishing, hunting and schooling, the children learn about themselves, each other and living in both First Nations and non- Aboriginal cultures.

Episode 1: The Burn Off

Best friends Tomias and Dahlia decide to skip school and find themselves with no choice but to fight fire with fire.

Episode 2: Gordons Boat

Three turns out to be a crowd when the new kid in town, Gordon, comes between best friends Tomias and Dahlia.

Episode 3: Big Barra Bonanza

Best friends Tomias and Dahlia leave Lizzie and set out to catch prize barramundi, but trouble arises with a crocodile who has other ideas.

Episode 4: Actual Reality

Tomias, Dahlia, and Gordon are out on country doing a VR film shoot when they find reality colliding with virtual reality as things don't go to plan and they find themselves stranded.

Episode 5: The Festival

The Mandjarkkorl Festival is fast approaching, and the friends want to practice their new dance routine, but their responsibilities pull them in different directions.

Episode 6: Cracker Night

Tomias and Dahlia find a box of fire crackers and decide not to hand them, but things get out of hand.

Episode 7: Speech Comp

Dahlia and Tomias select the same subject for a school speech competition, and their research leads them on a quest for treasure that reveals Dahlia's connections to Mandjakkorl and danger.

Episode 8: Transitions

Tomias loses his cousin after he arrives home for initiation ceremony, and it fuels his own anxieties around boarding school; Dahlia confronts her own purpose in Mandjakkorl.

Episode 9: Free Range

Tomias is offered a place in a Melbourne Boarding School, but he doesn't know how to tell Dahlia, and instead opts to hide it from her.

Episode 10: Barrumbi

Tomias and Dahlia's friendship lies in tatters, but a trip to a special place may heal them and country.
