Synopsis

Top End Bub is a follow-up to the 2019 smash hit film Top End Wedding. In the series, Tapsell and Gwilym Lee reprise their roles as Lauren and Ned.

Top End Bub revisits Lauren, a dynamic First Nations lawyer ticking off life goals in Adelaide. She’s married to Ned, a handsome husband who makes fresh croissants. What else could a person need?

After Lauren’s eight-year-old niece is orphaned, the show follows the couple reluctantly abandoning their big-city goals and moving to the Top End (where the outback meets the tropics) to raise the child.

While Lauren and Ned juggle the responsibility of becoming unexpected parents and try to keep their marriage together, Lauren must come to terms with her responsibilities within her culture as she transforms from an individualist to the linchpin of her family.

Taya’s birthday turns to chaos with the arrival of Ned’s high maintenance mother, while Lauren secretly discovers who Taya’s father is.

Episode 5: Aunty Coming Through!

Lauren pulls a sickie to find Taya’s dad on the Tiwi Islands, while Ned, Taya and Trevor help Leroy save the local footy fundraiser.

Episode 6: Freedom Cheese

Ned feels betrayed after finding out about Lauren's search for Taya’s biological father and seeks comfort at Leroy’s.

Episode 7: What Winning Feels Like

With Ned at Leroy’s, he and Lauren have never felt more distant. Taya struggles without him and although neither of them wish to admit it, both Ned and Lauren struggle too.

Episode 8: Cyclone Lauren

A cyclone hits and Lauren and Ned reconnect worrying about Taya. They head to the Tiwi Islands in search of Taya, where a new surprise awaits.
