Aunty Connie
Synopsis
Born in the Kimberley with a debilitating bone disease, Connie's first baby steps, broke both her legs. She was rejected by her father and had to spend most of her childhood on a mission. The mission staff didn't tell the Aboriginal children where they were from nor who their parents were, making Connie search for the identity of her mother and (white) father.
Often confronted with her part-Aboriginality, Connie (Connie McDonald) found acceptance in a German man and concludes: "When I grew up, I grew into myself."
Flashbacks are supported by original footage of those days.
